Pastors & Leaders

Marilyn Lewis - Pastor

Pastor Marilyn A. Lewis currently serves as the Pastor of Adams United Methodist Church in Lothian, Maryland. Before her pastoral appointment, she served faithfully as a Certified Lay Minister at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church and for eight years as the Annapolis District Lay Leader for the Baltimore-Washington Conference. In this role, she provided leadership, training, and support to 72 local church lay leaders across the district.

Pastor Marilyn has a passion for ministry that is both Spirit-led and community-focused. She was divinely inspired to initiate and lead several impactful ministries. Among them is a longstanding Women’s Ministry, through which she has organized an annual Women’s Retreat for over 30 years. These retreats offer women a sacred space to explore their faith, reflect on their identity in Christ, and grow in spiritual maturity.

Another ministry close to her heart is the Anointed Mine Ministry, a group of three young men formed more than 25 years ago under her leadership. Pastor Marilyn has also facilitated a wide range of workshops for local churches, covering topics such as goal setting, emotional awareness, leadership development, and church hospitality. Her teaching includes courses like Who Moved My CheeseFISH!, and The 7 Imperatives of an Effective Leader. She is also a seasoned instructor for the Discipleship Academy—now known as the Lay Servant Ministry Academy—where she has taught various foundational courses in ministry and leadership.  Pastor Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is currently enrolled in the Course of Study program at Wesley Theological Seminary. In addition to her pastoral duties, she works professionally as the Director of the Fleet & Family Support Center for the U.S. Navy.

Throughout her life, God has opened many doors for Pastor Marilyn. During her time living overseas in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Sardinia, Italy, with her late husband James, who served in the Navy, she received a divine vision to form gospel choirs in the Navy chapels at both locations. These choirs not only enriched worship services but also drew many individuals into deeper spiritual engagement. She also played a key role in coordinating African-American heritage celebrations and theatrical productions on several military bases.

Married to her beloved husband James for 41 years, Pastor Marilyn is the proud mother of two children, Corey and Jaime, and daughter-in-law Kim. She is also a joyful grandmother to four grandchildren: Korrin, Kayden, Korey, and Elizabeth-James.

With a heart for service and a life devoted to faith, Pastor Marilyn’s mission is simple: to help others along life’s journey. She often says, “If there is any praise to be gained, let it go to Calvary.”  Her guiding scripture is Psalm 121: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.”  In all things, she proclaims:  "To God be the Glory!"
